DEUTSCH.Wenn es in den österreichischen Alpen Frühling wird, brechen wir wieder auf in die Berge und Fjorde der Arktis. Berge die sich dirkt vom Meer heraus erheben, oft unberührte Natur und feinste Splitboardtouren, mit Runs bis and den Strand warten auf uns. Bei den BackyardSnowboarding Arctic-Trips sind wir hunderte Kilometer nördlich über dem Polarkreises in den Westfjorden von Island, In den Lyngen Alpen in Nordnorwegen, in Spitzbergen und an der Ostküste von Grönland. Das individuell aufgebaute und mit neuer Technik und Ausstattung versehene Schiff COMRADES dient uns als Base für unsere Touren. Von der Küste starten wir unsere Splitboardtouren und Überquerungen, an den jeweiligen Spots und fahren nach der Tour weiter zur nächsten Herausforderung. Relaxte Stimmung, onboard Hottub und Sauna, Dorsch fischen und Seekayaks bestimmen den Rest unserer Tage. Je nach Gebiet begleiten uns Elche, Rentiere, Eisbären, Wale, Robben, und spektakuläre Eis- und Fjordkulissen, auf den Touren die wir per Schiff und Beiboot erreichen. Mit diesem SetUp sind wir optimal aufgestellt um uneingeschränkt und unabhängig von menschlicher Infrastruktur überall zu touren, wenn uns die Natur es gestattet. Und es ist einfach Mega eine Splitboardtour aus dem Boot zu starten. ENGLISH.As soon as Spring is hitting the Austrian Alps we will move again up North to the ARCTIC fjords and Mountains to extend the touring Season. The BACKYARDSnowboarding ArcticTrips are unique and awesome Adventures with touring zones on mountains, reaching out of the Ocean. In the mostly untouched Nature we have Runs all the way to the beaches. Hundreds of kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, we do Splitboardtours based of the Ship COMRADES, in the west fjords of Iceland, the Lyngen Alps in Norway, Svalbard and the east coast of Greenland. We have accommodation in a new renovated old fishing vessel that has been converted with new technics and materials into an expedition yacht suited for our needs. From the coast we start our scenic splitboardtours and interesting traverses. After a full day of touring we set course to the next anchor spot for new tours,terrain and challenges. Relaxed vibes, wood fired Sauna and Hottub, catching fresh fish and sea kayaks will give us a worthy time after touring. Depending on the area of your chosen trip we will be accompanied by Reindeers, Moose, Polar bears, Wales and walruses. Scenic fjord landscape and the arctic wildlife will accompany us on our tours reached by boat. With this Setup of the Boat serving as floating lodge we have access to all tours free of other human infrastructure as long as mother nature let us play with her. COMRADES – SAIL TRAWLER – CUSTOM FIT EXPEDITION YACHT
COMRADES SEGELSCHIFF war ein Fischkutter im Nordatlantik und wird zu einem Expedition Segel Schiff umgebaut. Der erfahrene Captain und Eigentümer aus Schottland wird uns zu den besten Touren an den jeweiligen Spots bringen. Am Spot angekommen machen wir uns ready zum Landgang. Mit dem robusten Beiboot, gehen an Land ohne Nass zu werden und beginnen unsere Tour. Im besten Falle cruisen wir am Ende der Touren direkt wieder am Strand wo wir wieder dann wieder an Board der Comrades gehen. Wir genießen volle Verpflegung, essen selbst gefangenen Fisch und für jeden ist reichlich dabei. Es gibt ein ausgiebiges Frühstück und jeder kann sich seine Lunchbrote selber schmieren. Kleiner Spa mit holzbeheizter Sauna und Hot Tub am Deck ist recht lässig wenn es kalt ist. Crew besteht aus Capitan, Guide, 1st Mate&Koch, Eisbär Guide. Unter Deck gibt es vier 2er Kabinen für maximal 6-8 Gäste. Durch die Breite der Comrades ist es sehr geräumig an Board und es gibt 2 Langes, BBQ und Captains Cafe. Das individuell funktionell ausgestattete 17 Meter Eichen Schiff verfügt auch über Seakayaks und mehrere Heizungssysteme. Dank der Windturbine und grossen Power Banks gibt es ausreichend Boardstrom um alles zu laden. Neben der Sauna am Deck befindet sich die Dusche und die Toilette, Beide sind geschlossen und beheizt. Mehrere Holzheizsysteme. Navigation, Antrieb, Innenausbau und Segeln 2019 erneuert. Sicherheitsausrüstung nach modernen Standards. Für die Holzheizung nehmen wir auch Treibholz vom Strand mit wenn es Bäume gibt.
COMRADES – SAIL TRAWLER has been fishing all her life in the North Atlantic before it has been converted into a custom fitted expedition yacht. The experienced Captain Ruri from Scotland will bring us safely to the best tours at the given spots. After having arrived at one spot we transfer with the small boat onto the shore without getting wet and start our daily touring. In the best case we can ride back down all the way to the shore where we will get picked up again and brought back to Comrades. We enjoy a full board of fresh cooked meals, eat our own caught fish and there is plenty for everyone. We have rich breakfast and everybody can take his lunch away. The little onboard spa with a wood heated sauna and Hottub will allow you to feel warm and comfortable in the heavy arctic weather. The crew is Captain, Guide, 1st Mate & Chef and a Polarbear Guide at given danger in Svalbard and Greenland. Under the deck there is four double cabins für max 6-8 guest. Comrades is very wide so there is plenty of space including 2 lounges, BBQ and CaptainsCafe. The 17meter and very functional equipped oak expedition Yacht also has sea kayaks for use. Because of the wind turbine and huge power banks there is enough onboard electricity to charge all your electronic devices. On deck, besides Sauna and Hottub there is a nice , closed and heated shower and toilet. Multiple heating systems. Navigation , technic devices, hull exterior and interior and sails has been upgraded in 2019. Safety to the highest standards. For the wood ovens we like to do beach combing whenever possible and gather available drift wood to be used for heat.
SPLITBOARD TOUREN
Bei den Arctic Trips bieten wir jeden Tag geführte Splitboardtouren. Skifahrer sind natürlich auch willkommen .Die in den Fjorden, an der Küste oder auf den Bergen vorgelagerter Inseln sich befindende Touren fahren wir mit Comrades an und landen mit Beiboot an der Küste. 700 – 1400 Höhenmeter sollte jeder schaffen um die Touren im arktischen Wildlife optimal genießen zu können. Keine Sorge, dadurch, dass wir auf Meereshöhe starten fühlen sich die gegangenen Höhenmeter nach weniger an. Sicherheit steht an oberster Stelle, Airbagpflicht. Voller Ausrüstungscheck und nur funktionierendes Material. Die langen Tage lassen uns bei guten Konditionen 1-3 Anstiege pro Tag machen. In Kombination mit dem Boot sind die Touren mega interessant und abgelegen – Splitboardtouren delüxe. Du musst Dein Tourenequipment umbauen können und physische Kondition für 700-1400 HM pro Tag haben. Die Enjoyer Runs der ausgeschriebenen Arctic Trips sind nach Sicherheit und Schneequalität gewählt. Du solltest sicher am Brett stehen und schon verschiedene Schneearten gefahren sein. Level 2-3. Unsere Runs haben um 30 Grad. Bis zu 38 Grad an Schlüsselpassagen. Ziel ist es den Run mit dem bestmöglichen Schnee zu fahren. Bitte stelle Dich ein auf feinsten Pulver bis zu harten Konditionen.

SPLITBOARD TOURING
On the Arctic Trips we daily run guided Splitboardtours as our main objective. Of course, Skiers are also welcome. We find our tours on mountainranges in the fjord systems, rising from the shore or mountains on islands. Tours usually range from 700-1400 vertical uphill meters per day. You should be in physical conditions for that ascents in order to fully enjoy the tours in the Arctic wildlife. Due to the start at sea level the touring feels more easy in terms of physical condition. Safety is always our first priority. Airbag Protection obligatory. Full check of equipment and only top functioning gear. The long days let us do from 1-3 ascents per day. In Combination with the boat the tours are very interesting and also it is physically less demanding than the alps since we start tours at zero meters, sea level. Splitboarding deluxe. You have to be able to change your gear from skin to ride modus and be able to handle your equipment. All the ENJOY runs are chosen from a safety and snow quality perspective and usually we ride cruisy terrain around 30degrees inclination. Riding Level 2-3. Key passages can have up to 38degrees at short transitions. You should have experience with riding different kinds of snow quality. Key is to ride the best snow available every day. Be prepared to face all kind of conditions, from perfect soft powder to hardpack.
